Scope
Creation of an MVP for IT Spend Data Analysis and Decision-Making
The MVP solution should be able to analyze and visualize ADB’s IT spend-TBM dataset to uncover insights useful for decision-making. The MVP should be able to transform raw data into meaningful information that could help ADB achieve IT operations excellence and enhance strategic IT planning. While insights into both these areas are important, ADB also promotes sustainability in its organizational activities.
01
Desired Themes to Address in the MVP
The MVP could address the following themes, though these are by no means prescriptive nor exhaustive:
- Operational excellence: streamlining IT processes and workflows, reducing operational bottlenecks, improving IT service delivery and performance.
- Cost Optimitation: identifying opportunities to reduce IT expenses by eliminating inefficiencies, optimizing resource allocation, and implementing cost-effective solutions.
- System Consolidation: simplifying and consolidating IT systems to reduce complexity, improve performance, and enhance scalability while reducing maintenance costs.
- Strategic planning and decision-making: predicting the accuracy of IT budget forecasts, finding trends and potential risks.
- Sustainability and ESG: showing IT alignment to ADB’s corporate sustainability goals, understanding how IT resources are being used to promote environmental sustainability, address social impacts, or strengthen governance through for example transparency, accountability, or ethical practices.
02
Encouraging Creativity and Innovative Thinking
This challenge encourages creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, inviting participants to propose the themes they would like to explore or incorporate into the MVP. The MVP can take various formats, such as data reports, data models, applications, software, content design, and more, allowing great flexibility to approach the challenge’s needs and objectives in an innovative way.
03
Key Features of the MVP
- Analysis: Employ advanced analytics to extract meaningful information from raw data. Augment the raw data with reliable and trustworthy internal or external data to create unexpected insights.
- Visualization: Develop intuitive and interactive data visualization that tells a story.
- User Experience: Ensure the solution is user-friendly and accessible to non- technical stakeholders.
- Scalability: Design the MVP with scalability in mind for future enhancements.
04
Target Users
The prospective ADB users of the outputs of the MVP are:
- IT finance team, to support budgeting, forecasting, and managing IT expenses.
- Leadership team, for strategizing and decision-making on how the IT operations can further align to ADB’s business objectives, and for helping to demonstrate and communicate this alignment to ADB stakeholders.
- Budget Department and Business Partners, to understand and project the impact of IT operations on ADB capital and operating expense budgets.
- Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department, to understand the impact of IT operations on ADB corporate sustainability goals.
