The European Commission has officially launched a call for applications to join the Advisory Forum established under the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act). The goal is to ensure a pluralistic and effective implementation of this new EU legislation.
What is the Advisory Forum and what is its mission?
The Advisory Forum will serve as a general consultative body to the European Commission, complementing the work of the Scientific Panel, which advises the AI Office and national market surveillance authorities on general-purpose AI (GPAI). Its main mission is to provide independent technical perspectives and contribute to the implementation, standardization, and practical adaptation of the AI legislative package.
Who can participate and how is it structured?
Experts from civil society, academia, industry, SMEs, and startups are invited to apply, provided they represent organizations with relevant experience in AI. The Commission is aiming for geographical diversity and gender balance. In addition, permanent members will include key agencies such as ENISA, the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), and standardization bodies (CEN, CENELEC, ETSI).
